National Council Of Women in India is the oldest organisation registerd as NGO in March 1948 as the “Women Council Of C P & Berar” In 1962 it came to be known as “The National Council Of Women In India “ Nagpur.

We have our building at Mahadula , about 14 km from Zero Mile Nagpur. The building was donated to by a British Lady Mrs. Vivion Bose wife of a Barrister.

Mrs.Kumi . D. Cassad of Nagpur Council was president of NCWI from 1964-1966, Mrs. Sunita Mirpuri was vice president of NCWI from 2008-2011, Mrs. Meena Rao is standing committee conveynor for women and employment .

NCWI is an organisation of the ladies, & the works in providing a helping hand to weaker section of women & children in & around Nagpur for the last 70 years. Nagpur chapter with 80 members work tirelessly to uplift women & children through different project.

Working affairs are managed by a managing committee & sub committees. Managing committee meets every first Tuesday & general committee on last Tuesday of the month at Ladies Club. Our activities are organised every month the funds are raised or given by members and their friends & family whole heartedly .

India being developing country has plethora issue that need to be addressed on regular basis.Women & children tend to be most neglected section of society, thus there is planty of help that can be provided to their upliftment.

Our major projects are conducted at Mahadula. For sewing classes we have employed a teacher to teach girls & ladies of Mahadula. We have 4 pedestal & 1 hand machine this is a boon to student,which helps them in earning their livelyhood as well as for their own good.

We have adopted Slum Children of labourers of Mahadula. NCWI provides them school dresses study material bags,shoes,cleanliness & hygien kit.we have free Tution Classess after school hours to help them in solving difficulties & doing home work. Arrangements are made to teach them drawing,painting,crafts,singing & dancing. We give them healthy & nutritious freshly prepared snacks like poha,upma,dal & chana,usal ect. This is for betterment of less privileged children.

To keep children of labourers pre-occupied in long summer vacations, we organise “sanskar shivir”(summer camp) at Mahadula.Children are trained in artistic skills for drawing,painting,craft work,singing & dancing based on mythological topics.

We teach KARATE self defence technique with lessons aimed at building their confidence, overcome fear factor tackle with threat & protect oneself with available tools. We give prizes to two best student. Meal is served daily to the children. They are given stationaries & gifts along with home made meals on the final day of the shivir.

Keeping in mind about the health care of the people of Mahadula , a medical team of specialised doctors & their nursing staff of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital come for check up & treatment. Free medicines fruits & snacks are distributed to the patients.

We celebrate Independence Day, Republic Day, Flag is hoisted by president followed by Rashtriya Gaan & patriotic songs by school children.

Raksha-bandhan,Diwali, Childrens Day are also celebrated with the kids. Home made goodies, sweets,choclates phulljhari & toys are distributed to all the children. We take children for Picnics to Zoo & Rail Museum play game and give them healthy lunch cakes,chocolates & sweets.

Members are regularly visiting sant Tukdoji Maharaj Cancer Hospital & Snehanchal where terminal ill patients of cancer are treated. We provide them all kind of assistance i.e. basic requirement,Bedsheets ,macintosh, sugar complan,protein powder.

Visit old-age home at panchwati, Adasa & Mure memorial Hospital. Serve them lunch & give Gifts like towel woolens , basic general medicines to the inmates. They feel happy as they are treated lovingly & affectionately .

A midwifery & nursing school was working since last so many years, which is now close gram-panchayat hospital is providing them the same facilities.

We Oragnise seminars in which distinguished speakers from every walk of life (like doctors,lawyer,educationist)express their views on positive & negative impacts on topics.

Besides this we have special programme on National & religious festivals for members, for entertainment at times we have games music, songs, bhajans & tambola.
